    In Libra's defense...?

We all like to make fun of Libra, and point out is centralized, permissioned etc. Which is true, but look a little closer. As I understand it, facebook tries to implement compliance on the level of the user apps, not necessarily on the level of the blockchain. Their calibra wallet for...

Uber, Visa, PayPal and Mastercard among big investors in Facebook’s blockchain project "Libra" (video)

It's true that $10M is a small amount in terms of the size of those companies but given the stage of the project I'm not sure it would make sense to raise much more capital than they have already. If you haven't sorted out long-term technical goals, work scope, assembled teams, etc. it's hard...

Facebook's libra will have smart contracts... What does this mean for ethereum?

Doubt it will do much to expand the crypto space unless they allow interoperability with other chains. If it's a walled garden the end user just sees another payment system. I think PayPal should be worried more than the crypto sphere.

Facebook's libra will have smart contracts... What does this mean for ethereum?

Not only that, but anyone who uses it will likely have to go through some level of KYC, which is just great for Facebook's advertising model.

Writing an Article on Facebook's Libra - Need your Input

I agree, and while its not so much a question about the survival of other Blockchain alternatives, there is no way for Facebook to secure your personal data. They want to make money at the end of the day and they aren't selling the libra, they are selling you

About us

  • Facebook Libra Coin is built on an open-source blockchain called the Libra Blockchain featuring its own proof-of-stake protocol. Backed by a reserve of various assets designed to give it intrinsic value, it is governed by the independent Libra Association tasked with evolving the ecosystem. Facebook teams played a key role in the creation of the Libra Association and the Libra Blockchain, working with the other Founding Members. While final decision-making authority rests with the association, Facebook is expected to maintain a leadership role through 2019. The Libra mission is to reinvent money and transform the global economy so people everywhere can live better lives.
